Penn State Construction is serving as General Contractor for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on this $1.578 million design-and-construct salt storage facility in Eldred, McKean County. The project involves the demolition of two existing salt storage buildings at Stockpile #07 and construction of a new 73' x 64' two-bay winter material storage building. The structure features glued-laminated (glulam) heavy timber framing, formed metal roofing panels, vinyl siding, and cast-in-place concrete foundations and floor slabs. Site improvements include asphalt and concrete paving, stormwater management, and LED exterior lighting. Delivered under a prevailing wage contract, this facility will provide PennDOT's maintenance forces with modern, code-compliant salt storage capacity to support year-round highway operations in McKean County.
