Penn State Construction completed a comprehensive water tower rehabilitation at the King's Gap Environmental Education Center in Dickinson Township, Cumberland County, for the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The $607,800 project centered on the demolition and removal of an aging wooden water tank atop the historic masonry tower, replaced with a new corrugated metal water tank and all associated appurtenances. Work also included replacement of the deteriorated reinforced concrete support slab and beams, full masonry repair, repointing, cleaning, and sealing of 100% of the tower's exterior brick, installation of new wood doors and windows, updated plumbing and domestic water piping, and new electrical service. Throughout construction, PSC maintained uninterrupted water service to the facility by providing and managing a temporary water storage vessel. The completed rehabilitation extends the life of a landmark structure while ensuring reliable water supply for the education center and its visitors.
